Infographic Fun: Reducing Individual Plastic Waste

I already made the move from liquid body wash to bar soap, and just recently I switched from liquid shampoos and conditioners to bars. They work really well too! But this isn’t a review for them. I made the switch because I wanted to reduce my plastic waste, but it got me thinking: how much impact is made by me reducing these select items? Well, not much is impacted just because I alone stopped using plastic. There are 27 million tons of plastic in our landfills and 29 million tons of plastic in our oceans, and my plastic waste makes up a tiny fraction of that. So, collective reduction would be needed. But this is also a problem because not everyone can afford more sustainable goods (though these bars will save me money in the long term), so placing the burden on individuals is not an effective way to go about reducing plastic waste. While we all need to reduce our plastic (and other types of) waste, we also need to change our systems that create waste or are inefficient in disposal.
